Lighthouse shelter / winter relief
Join the Annapolis Jaycees as we prepare dinner for the residents of the Lighthouse Shelter (a homeless shelter on Hudson St. in Annapolis) and Anne Arundel House of Hope. Volunteers prepare dinner and serve residents approximately 6-8 times per year. It's a great time and a rewarding experience helping the homeless in the Annapolis area.
Project clean stream
Join us as we partner with the Alliance for the Bay and other local community organizations to clean up Chesapeake Bay tributaries. Volunteers spend the day removing trash and debris from a section of the Chesapeake Bay watershed to maintain and preserve the valuable ecosystems across Maryland.
The Special Olympics is a special event where we partner with the Anne Arundel County Special Olympics to host a State Qualifier at the US Naval Academy. Athletes from Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware participate in swimming and track and field events throughout the course of this two-day event. Volunteers run all team and individual events, including set-up, timing, scoring, awards, and tear down.
Come join the fun as we support the Anne Arundel County “Back to School Program” by partnering with local business and other charitable organizations in the Annapolis area to supply school supplies for underprivileged students. These supplies are then “scattered” across the downtown area for a scavenger hunt to promote community involvement and awareness of the growing number of students in need. The filled backpacks are then delivered to the schools by the Jaycees to be given to the students in need.
The Angel Tree Project is where we “adopt” 20-25 families from the Department of Social Services for the Christmas holiday. Volunteers from the group buy and wrap gifts for the children and their families. In addition, Jaycees collect food donations from local grocery stores so that each family receives food for a holiday meal. Before the holidays, Jaycees members deliver the food and gifts to the families.
Join us as we sponsor the lighting of the Christmas tree in downtown Annapolis. Community members gather to watch local groups perform holiday songs and dances, while Jaycees members serve hot chocolate. The evening culminates with a visit from Santa Claus and the illumination of the tree!
hanging of the greens
Help us decorate local businesses in downtown Annapolis with fresh greens, lights, and bows for the Christmas season.
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and this one event allows us to operate through the year.
Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success!
